So . . . bags are packed and off we go tomorrow back to little Copenhagen. Ida has successfully been intergrated into the P.R.C. (Beautiful Moral) and Signe has eaten all the Chinese food she possibly could. Cosy Clothes has learnt a lot in China, coming home with suitcases full of . . . . Knick-Knack Tingeltangel!

Rainy Day at Heltex

Yesterday we went to Faushan to visit a cashmere knitting factory.We still luve da cashhmeeere!!There are approximately 13 stage in the production of a knitted garment.(this not including goatherding and spinning of yarn!)

It take 3-4 years to train a finegage cashmere knitter. (Preferably young abled-bodied men and women under 30 yrs old!)

Shit happens. This little device is undoing wrongly knitted piece and spinning the different yarn to be used again.

So, this was one of the many checkpoint for holes and mistakes on the precious cashmere garments. At another station patient workers were removing nullermaends from the sweaters with a tweezer!

So . . . . words cannot quite describe shopping at Park'n'Shop supermarket on a Sunday afternoon. Suffice to say we poured ourselves a big long drink to calm our nerves when we got home!Blasting loudspeakers, widescreen TV's advertising new products, tastings of all sorts, emaculately dressed kiddies running about.(They are all Princes and Prinsesses due to PRC's one child policy).Shopping together with all the millions of Chinese really make you realise how huge this country's consumer market is.

Guabgzhou By Night

Saturday night in Guangzhou. We met with our Hair Stylist, Ken for a drink and dinner. Very plush/tacky lounge bar.

Later we went to Tenny-bobber Bubble Tea cafe! For those of you who don't know what Bubble Tea is: it comes from Taiwan and is basically various flavoured cold drinks with small jelly balls. You drink it with a big big straw, sucking up the balls!

Later we wnet to Babyface Nightclub. The place was packed with gangsta Chinese, Korean and Africans! Bootie down gangsta-style!Ida and I had enormous difficulty ordering our beers? For some reason they had an very complicated system, which we never really understood. We couldn't exactly order at the bar(or did we?), however waiters on the dancefloor hurried over and took our order instead? 10 minutes later a flustered waiter stood in the middle of the dancefloor trying frantically to open beerbottles in front of us!!!?

Total confussion.

So, in very hot and humid weather we took a little walk up the mountain to inspect the view over Guangzhou. There were a lot of retired folks longing about on the top, having a snack or doing gymnastics. Hyggeligt!

So, across the street from the Pearl market, we went to the Jade market! This is were Signe's Great Grandfather had his jewelryshop. He was a bigshot in the good old days, with a big house and 3 wives. Today there is a highway where the house used to be.

So, yesterday we went to Mutti's especial tea merchant. We sat around a strange table made out of a tremendous tree trunk. The tea-guy served us several luxurious Chinese teas. (with cigarettes, sweets and peanuts).

Mutti, Beautiful moral and our chaufoer.(Mum calls him Siu Jian which means Little Jian, so we call him Little John. His real name is Gary).

Signe enjoying a tiny cup of Monkey Pinch Tea. This tea grows wild on cliffs and monkeys are trained to pinch the leaves!

So, we arrived Thursday afternoon. The sun was shining in Shanghai,we flew through the many fly-overs into the city! Shanghai is truely a huge amazing metropole of about 17-20 million people.

Friday morning we had our meeting with the company making our CC-samples. A very fruitfull meeting! We had given them a challenging task, however the samples turned out pretty well.

Later we visited one of their knitting factories, in the suburbs of Shanghai. We also saw their spinning factory, where they were spinning cashmere from Mongolia. Yummy!

Guangzhou Factory Visit

Because of my Father's sexy legs, we got the opportunity to visit 2 factories yesterday! My Dad met a lady at the hospital while he had an operation on his leg. She happened to work for Guangzhou Textile Trading Ltd.

We first visited a knitting factory with 600 employees. A huge place with both computer and handknitting machines. The workers dormitory with a basketballcourt was placed 5 meters across from the factory.

This was their showroom where they amongst others delivered to Hennes & Mauritz.

Lunch at uber tacky Chinese restaurant/palace.

After lunch we visited a smaller print factory. Mr.Wong, the head printer was very helpful and we discussed print techniques. He was interested in a future collaboration with CC!

Ida: Chinese Designer

Because of Cosy Clothes venturing into China, Ida was given a chinese name especially designed by Elsa Moeller Jensen and Francis Luo. In english it is pronounced See Mei De`. This means beautiful moral.

Ida is very happy about her new name ;)

Also congratulating a fellow designer: Maj Persdatter. She has recently been selected with six other design students in The Politiken competition.

On another textile note: We visited Tsumori Chisato's store in Hong Kong, Causeway Bay and it was love at first sight!

Beautiful Japanese design! Next trip must be Japan.

So, after a little light lunch ( Chau mein (rice noodles) and congee with 1000year old eggs) we are off to get some stuff copied, tailor-made! I'm a little skeptical, especially 'cos I bought some beautiful Valentino silk fabric in Hong Kong, and as one could fear they'll muck it up in China (?).

In any case we do need it tailor-made Ida and I! There aren't many Viking-built mademoiselles in Guangzhou!

Finally the sun is out today! It's been quite grey otherwise (and sticky humid). Don't know if it's the weather or pollution.

He Killed A Man

So, we have arrived at the YMCA in downtown Tsin Sha Tsui. Soon after we of course find a shop with 60% off on all cashmere sweaters and scarfs! Jubii!

Ida er blevet introduceret til noget af Signes familie og igaar var vi til business middag med en rigtig Kina-koebmand!
Det foregik i et privat vaerelse omkring et stort rundt bord,(tacky bryllupsdekoration med juveler i loftet!)Signes far maatte simpelthen ofre sig og begive sig ud i drikke konkurrence med Koebmanden for Cosy Clothes.
Koebmanden underholdte os hele aftenen med at han havde drukket 7 1/2 liter oel pa 1 1/2 time. Ifoelge Koebmanden havde han engang drukket en Japansk forretningsforbindelse under bordet, hvorefter japaneren aldrig rejste sig igen. . . . . . . .

Hot Outside Cold Inside

So, we have arrived to Guangzhou yesterday and already been to the local taylors with Daddy-Kaj's shirts, had dinner at White Swan Hotel and evening swimming at Oakwood pool! Lovely!

Ida however need to get used to it being quite cold inside due to the air conditioning ( woolen socks and sweater- cold!) while it is hot outside!

Mine smagsloeg har kronede tider. Sild med hvidloeg fra Ikea, vandmand og soede koedkager.

Next stop is Hong Kong. The train leaves 15.45
